Care1Bank? More like Care-6-Banks...
That’s right, with our six contracted NHS trusts, Care1Bank is able to offer a wide range of flexible work opportunities for doctors across South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.
The relative locality of each of these Trusts in comparison to one another means that you can pick and choose which roles are best for you at any of the hospitals without having to worry about travelling too far – the longest travel time being a 90-minute drive between ULHT and Barnsley.
If you are looking to gain experience across a range of clinical settings, Care1Bank is a great choice; it offers quick and easy registration and allows you to access hundreds of opportunities. You can find out a bit more about each of the trusts below:
Barnsley Hospital NHS Trust
Barnsley is a smaller Trust with great Consultant support. The hospital has undergone extensive development over the past few years, including an £8 million development of their Imaging Department, a £1 million refurbishment of the Acute Medical Unit and a £2 million development of the Emergency Department Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) and Resuscitation Unit.
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
The Trust is spread across three hospitals over the local area:
Doncaster Royal infirmary has one of the busiest emergency services in the country, with a 24-hour Emergency Department (ED) and trauma unit status, as well as a full range of hospital care and specialist services including vascular surgery.
Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop is a slightly smaller acute hospital, again with a 24-hour ED and a full range of district general hospital services, with inpatient, day case and outpatient facilities.
Montagu Hospital in Mexborough is a small non-acute hospital for people needed further rehabilitation before being discharged.
Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
With a state of the art £40 million children’s ward, Sheffield Children’s mostly deal with children aged 0-16 but also up to 18-year-olds from the region. The Trust is recognised as a Centre of Excellence, with UK leading departments and clinicians in paediatric care. The Trust also has the only Paediatric Emergency Department in Yorkshire, which makes working there a great opportunity for anyone looking for paediatric experience.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Slightly south of Sheffield and creeping out of Yorkshire is Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. It was one of the first to become a Foundation Trust and offers a full range of acute services, 24-hour A&E care and specialist children’s services.
It is just a 15-minute train from Sheffield to Chesterfield, and if you were going from Sheffield train station directly to CRH, the whole journey would only take around 35 minutes!
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust
ULHT is one of our largest Trusts and covers a large area, with Lincoln County Hospital and Pilgrim Hospital (Boston) providing major specialties and 24-hour major A&E services and Grantham and District Hospital providing ambulatory paediatric services as well as 24-hour A&E services. The fourth is County Hospital Louth that provides an outpatient department, an inpatient surgical ward, and diagnostic procedures.
LCH is a city hospital with a busy ED and a comprehensive range of radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, whereas the others cover large rural areas but also busy, with Pilgrim and Grantham also providing chemotherapy treatment.
